Question 1991 Truck Wont Always Start

i am new to the form and have done lots of reading. i am having a couple issues and cant seem to figure them out.

1. When you turn the key you can here a click and that is it. truck will not turnover. Keep Clicking a sequence of times and finally the truck will start. When it does start it runs really rough for a minute or two. i have tried the clutch cancel switch when trying to start but this doesn help either. Any Help would be appreciated. After you get it started it might start several times after that. Seems to only do it when the engine is cold or sat for 3-4 hours.

2. E-Brake light stays on and wont go off. i have checked the switch by the E-Brake lever and its good. Also checked the switch on the master cylinder and it acts as its working. But if i unhook the Master Cylinder Switch the light goes off??? Also would this keep my cruise from working?

1. is most likely starter contacts $20.00 at Toyota!!!

2. have you checked your brake fluid level??? cruise may be kept from working due to this or the turn signals or brake lights being out,,or leds being used...

changed the contacts and seems to be better. i unhooked the sensor on the master cylinder and brake light went off. Brake fluid level is good.

would suggest replacing the sensor or cleaning it and it sounds like it will cure the light issue

and you say it seems to be better if not cured you will most likely need to check and clean your grounds, and the starter relay may need to be replaced...

Do you know if you can just buy the sensor or do you have to buy a new reservoir? i have cleaned the grounds to the starter.
