Question i have no power to a few things can you help

my lights / horn / starter moter wont work there is power to the dash bord in the cab but twhen i turn the key to start the 4runner it wont do anything the glow plugs get hot and i can tow start it ... but when i try to shut the motor off with the key it just keeps running and all so the dash lights stay on when i turn the ignetion off and take the key out .. the wire that gives power to the fuse box gets verry hot as well it came off from the battry and when i reconect it all i get is a few sparks from the termanial and a large knock from a solanoid that is some were on the left rear of the motor ... any help with this little set back will be nice ...

thanks ..

Heatt69,
That wire runs to a brass plate on the fuse box. Plate connects to 80A fuse which is the grey cube right above the its screw:

Guys with 86Runenrs,
Would you please post pics of wire on your 4Runners? Mine looks like below. I suspect it had been modified because it has a thin (12AWG) blue wire instead of thick white one.

Check Wiring common to Starting System & Air Shut-Off Solenoid

tony menzies You must have a diesel (like this?), not common in the U.S. However...
Starter does not work means but tow starts and dash lights on when engine on means battery power is not getting to your starter system, but your alternator supplies power after tow starting.
In order to shut off a diesel engine, one needs to shut off air, not electricity.
That you could not shut off engine probably means your air shut-off solenoid and/or mechanism is not working. Check that solenoid making a sound. If it does work, it should actuate something that shuts off air. If you're getting sparks when solenoid energizes, it could be that solenoid's drawing to much current (something else is wrong with it- coil shorting to ground maybe? plunger stucc?)

Suggest you check wiring that is common to starting system and air shut-off solenoid.

1987 toyota truck 22r need help with fuse panels

Hi yall,

My name is Avondale but you can call me Von... I just bought a 1987 toyota but I do not know what fuses go where and I am getting tired of trying to find information on the internet. Surprisingly GOOGLE doesn't know it all... If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. I just do not know what size to put where... I have a panel at the drivers kick plate and one under the hood, if there are any others please let me know. This is my first time ever asking a forum for help... Thanks guys!!!

Von

Search Oil Pan removal in the search window. Or something similar. Or, if necessary, start your own thread.

I would help, but I don't know what we are working on...
