first gen 4runner removable top weatherstrip

hi guys.
i am in need of the oem weatherstip for the removable top that goes across the back of the cab and down the two b-pillars.

Toyota has discontinued it and there are none on any shelves anywhere. Currently trying to source an alternative, but would rather have the original seal if someone has one in good shape.

it is adhered to cab with some sort of adhesive and can be carefully peeled back.

looking for one with no cracks/ tears/ or distortion. preferably from a truck that hasnt had the top off all that much.

shipping to charleston, SC 29412.
whats your cost? shoot me a pm

I just bought one Saturday night for an 85 runner. What year is yours? I just looked and they have them at toyotapartszone for all 80s model 4runners.

yep,
called them up.
they are all discontinued and out of stock.
i have been playing around with it and have found an alternative that seems to be working so far. its from http://www.mcmaster.com/

just a general automotive grade adhesive epdm rubber weatherstripping. it was about a buck a foot i want to say.

here is a link to what i got.
what i did was remove the old weatherstripping. then remove ALL of the old adhesive residue with alcohol or equivalent.

then cut my strip to length. now, i adhered mine to a different surface than the factory. rather than glue it to the horizontal surface, just above the threaded bolt holes for the top, like the factory, i adhered the bottom (3/4" side) to the vertical part of the sheet metal just below the top plain of the cab. then the 1" side of the foam protruded back to the surface in the top that has the bolt holes. should end up just past the mounting hole surface of the cab, like the old seal.

be careful though, the foam used is a little thicker than the edge and if applied incorrectly will stick out past the roof line. so make sure to put the top of the seal adhesive level with the roof and then squish the bottom in as you glue it to the truck. if you do it right it will make a good seal. mine didnt leak a drop. actually had to pull the top down when putting it on to compress the foam cause it was so thick. but it fit.

only other thing is to make sure you have a couple people helping. I'm pretty sure its pressure sensitive adhesive. and you only get one shot, so get it where you want it and push it in good.
once its on all the way around, come back and make sure every inch of it is pushed on really good to get a good seal.

part number 8694K52

Good luck

realized the link didnt take you back to the configured part. just the basic rubber section.
go to the link.
click sheets bars and strips
then adhesive backing
then 1" thick
then 3/4" wide
then make sure to click the epdm material off to the right. if you want the weatherstrip to last, get epdm. its the same material as oem uses. also, its fire resistant and weather proof. ideal for automotive applications.

twhite,
cool, let me know if you have any questions about putting it in, cause like i said its quite a bit different than the OEM and quite a bit larger as well.
so just make sure the adhesive side is level with the roof line when you put it on. the other side will squish down to conform to that radius on the roof and you should be good when you go to put the top on.

but you may need help from a couple your buddies to pull it down good and tight when installing it.

should work well. today is going to be our first HARD rain since i put it in, so i imagine if it passes this test it should be fine.

A while ago, I found one of the off-road parts companies selling a generic weatherstrip that was very much like OEM Toyota, but for a Bronco, iirc. Will post a link if i can find it again
