Is there a difference between the automatic and stick transfer case? I have a few R150F transmissions around with transfer cases, but not sure what the actual transfer case numbers are. No clue if they are light enough to ship for a reasonable rate, but MI to NY is generally pretty low vs other areas of the country.

tried car part, anyone with a full transmission has not expressed a desire to remove the transfer case or bell housing...looking up the r150f but I don't think they will interchange

I could pull a bell housing if you end up needing one.

I looked around a bit, and it looks like the automatic transfer cases are their own animal. I have one, but I'm still using the 4runner as a yard truck lol. Auto transmission code is A340 marlin crawler has several "types" for the transfer cases, but it didn't cover the 94 automatic. Also read it's integrated (same fluid for the whole unit).

Just to make sure things are clear and communicated well, the bell housing would be for mating the VZ engine (3.0L or 3.4L) to the R series trans (aka R150). Most likely automatics would be a different housing bolt pattern on the main body of the trans. From what I've seen nbl300 might have the same bell housing too =).

Hmm thanks for clarifying, I need to do some as well. I am not in need of the bell housing, just the snout that attaches to the rear driveshaft, which is part of the a340h transfer case/auto transmission. I would take the whole transfer case but would rather not have have the complete transmission. After looking at pictures the manual r series rear end snout will not work.

I just got thinking on this, I think my cousin has a spare trans complete with transfer case from a 4runner with an automatic and V6. I'll shoot you a pm and if the deal with nbl300 doesn't work out, maybe I can middle man something with my cousin.

I'm looking for parts from a transfer case for the A340H too. I need a front companion flange (yoke) that connects to the u-joint on the front drive propeller. Let me know if you find a t-case for parts.

Do you happen to know if the manual transmission transfer cases use the same part? I have one with a cracked housing, but it's from a 4cyl (W and G series trans).

Hey, darn, I don't think that will work. It must be from an automatic transmission, but it can be from a 4 cylinder engine, according to Toydiy.com.

Also, the salvage yard software incorrectly states the front drive shaft (propeller) part number is the same number up to 1995. This seems to be causing me some issue finding the matching flange. ToyoDiy.com shows that the drive shaft is only applicable to the 1988, 1989, and 1990 trucks all with V6 and auto trans.

Interesting that the front drive shaft works for 88-90 when 88 into 89 pickup was the drive line redesign. Part numbers might be different, but I'd bet that 86-95 would fit with minor changes from part number to part number (grease locations, u joints or w\e). The only auto 4cyl I have is a 2wd, so that doesn't help things lol. Anyway good luck on the search.

Problem solved. Any truck or 4Runner produced from 08/1985 - 10/1995 with an automatic transmission will work. The key is the auto trans. This setup is a strange mate with the transfer case and the auto trans. They are chain driven, share fluids, and only have 23 splines on the output from the transfer case. Also, the actual flange has "studs" installed in it, rather than "holes" to pass the bolts through with a nut on the end. Interesting...

I'll take a photo and add it here later.
