What does a flashing A/C dial light mean?

Hey guys/gals, the A/C light for my 2003 4Runner started flashing a couple of days ago. It seems to be causing the heating and air to go kinda crazy. Any ideas on what this means? I thought maybe it means it needs a recharge but that is just a guess. If anyone knows the page in the manual that references such an issue, I'd appreciate it also.

Thanks in advance.

The dealership says since my 4Runner is NOT under warranty anymore, then it costs about $130 to fix. Anyone know how difficult it would be to fix this? Or what is the cost of a replacement part? I'm not usually a stickler for paying to get things fixed but my daughter's birthday is coming up and I'd rather spend the money on her...

I thought TSB's were a fix that the dealer had to do regardless of the vehicle in warranty or not. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd check out another dealership and verify the findings.

Good luck

According to the person I spoke to, only recalls were required to be fixed. I plan to ask around however as I had thought the same as well. Anyone else know for sure?

Well, unfortunately, when it blinks, the A/C isn't cold...it just blows air (warm usually). Right now, it is working fine but I live in GA and as summer approaches, I'm not too keen on not having A/C...

Can you get a copy of the actual TSB? It may have it's own warranty date. For example, the Sulfur TSB (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/attach...=&postid=30258)

As you can see it says it is applicable for 96 months or 80K miles. It makes no mention of the 3yr/36k warranty so I would think that this TSB would still require repair even though the vehicle is over it's standard warranty since it encompasses the standard warranty.

Like Lance said, check around other dealerships and see what they can do for you. Or get a copy of the actual TSB and see what the warranty terms state. Also the relay isn't too expensive. See this thread as someone said they bought it for $71. Also this thread has the PN for the relay: http://toyota-4runner.org/showthread...blinking+a%2Fc
