i tore the outer cv boots on my 'runner
monday when i was work'n it over Kelly Flats, CO

i disconected the front swaybar as well...big dif on the trail IMOP
so what happened is the Question??

A) i didn't tie up the sway bar high enough and it cut a tear in the boot?

B) i over flexed and wore the boot premature?

C) i drooped and pinched the boot, tearing it?

it is ripped/torn on the small side of the outer boot
sorry no pic cause my USB port doesn't recognize my camera

i'm going to do the boot kit in the next couple of days ($38/side)
but i could use the feedback so i don't have to do this in the future

any ideas as to what happened??

well it looks like with the swaybar un-hooked
i'm getting maximum droop (springs touching upper arms)
which somehow binds up the outer boot tearing it apart

so after i get this all back together i'm going to have to
workout a limiting strap if i want to do disconnects

does this sound about right??
anyone else come across this??

 

well... it was the swaybar hitting the boots

got it all back together and took it out on some trails today
everythings fine on it... no damage from driving on the ripped boots

took the swaybar completely off just to be safe
still gotta figure out the limiting strap
