91 Gas Necessary
I found some specs for the 05+tacos and saw that they recommend 94 gas. I wasn't to excited about this since i just ordered my 07 taco and gas isn't the cheapest thing to buy these days! I was wondering if anyone is running there 05+ taco on 87 (unleaded). Will it harm my truck or affect anything??

Good to hear, so i guess you haven't noticed any pinging sounds coming from your engine. I heard putting lower octane (then recomended) can take its toll on the engine over time since it takes less compression to combust.

on the '05 and newer tacoma, we have a knock sensor and vvt. you can run almost any grade octane. but, low octane will cause the sensors to retard timing (reducing a little power efficiency, and mpg). i have an auto trans, and it was noticable with the cruise control on.... trans would down shift, sometimes multiple gears when not necessary. i started using the mid grade octane, and on the same roads the down shifting has greatly reduced. you may not notice the engine timing being retarded when driving a manual trans...
