4th gen lift modifications/info - pic is up...sport ed. hood on the way
Some info for ya'll-
The lift setup on my rig (03' V-8 4x4) is finally nearing completion. After installing the Revtek 3" suspension spacer kit, the rear still sagged due to my ridiculous stereo system. We added PP air bags as a temporary fix, but they just couldn't handle all the weight. So, the other night, we had 2 coils from the front of a 1/2 ton Ram. The height and top diameter were nearly a perfect match, but the bottom diam was too big, so no go there. We eventually came up with a way to add just under 2" to the spacer setup. We took the hard black plastic spacers for the airbags and ground them down so they would fit snugly into the top of the bumpstop, which is above the revtek spacer. We then put a 1/4" rubber plumbing cap on each one, and the lift was complete, giving me 1/2" of lift higher than where the air bags had me. The ride is sooooooo much softer and better now, and the revtek foam filled shocks are still great, and also the limiting factor as far as the articulation.
I have one question for you all. What is the maximum height you could add to the top of a coil in terms of inches? I know that what you add in the front will double due to the compression of the spring, I am just looking to bring the front up another inch, so I figure a 1/2" spacer on top of the revtek spacers would do the trick. The 33's still rub on the plastic inner fender slightly, especially after getting realigned.
I know a lot of you aren't fans of the 4th gens, but I think my vehicle is a legitimate testimate that if you put a little time and money into them, they'll look great. I hope this can be of some use to you all. Thanks for hearing me out.
We are now in the process of adding custom sliders, thick stainless underbody skids, a custom baja bar for the front, and a turbo off a cummins diesel. I'll keep ya posted. Feel free to hit me with any questions, etc.
Billy
I'll get a pic up later...having probs right now.
Here are the final measurements from the ground to the bottom of the fender:
Front Stock: 33"
Front Raised: 37.5"
Rear Stock: 36"
Rear Raised: 40"

Billy:
I have some welcoming news for ya. Downey called me a few days ago to schedule an appointment for me to drop my 4runner off so they can test their full suspension. It'll be in the shop all day Tuesday and I should have it back on Wednesday (if I can get off of work to pick it up, if not, I'll just go in on Thursday or something).
Since the rear shock and coils are done, and I know I should get a full 2.5" in the rear, that should help you out on the long process. You might be able to go w/ this system and add the spacer in the rear to compensate with the heavy load in the rear
I'll let ya know personally when I get my 4runner back!!

Lance-
Yeah, great news to hear...exciting for you too. I think the coil plus the revtek spacer would be about perfect because I want to go a little higher anyway. Gonna add a 5/8" spacer to the existing front setup to bring that up as well to clear the 33's for good. The sport edition hood is in the mail thru Todd...and many more mods are on the way. Thanks again...cant wait to see your rig.

After looking at that one CV picture that you have on your site, it definitely looks like we can add more lift in there as the axle itself is pretty level.
What do you all think? Billy has atleast 3+ inches of lift and almost none of the fins are touching
Cool, now I'm definitely excited about my lift from Downey!!!
Can't wait!!!
Thanks for the pix!!!

good times-
glad to see that helped...I am still gonna add another 5/8" spacer, but that is how she sits with the revtek 3" kit...from what I can tell, still plenty of room to go up!!? I'll get you another pic once the new spacer is added...let me know asap when you get those downey coils on, or even order a second set and i'll get you back...cant wait to see your rig joining the 4th gen crew...we need support!!...just give me a little more time and she'll be a wheelin machine.

CTB-
honestly...lol...I don't have a clue where we are going to put it. It is a stock take off from a guy who added a larger turbo, so it isn't gonna cost me hardly anything to put it together. I have a couple of buddies who are killer custom fab guys, so i am sure we can come up with something. Thanks for the comps on my ride...the mods are just beginning.
