4Lo beep...

I apologize if this topic has already been beaten into the ground, but is there any way to eliminate the beep alert for when your in 4Lo on a '07 4Runner?

If it's beeping I don't think you are in 4lo. Did you:
1) stop the truck
2) put the transmission in N
3) insure down hill assist is turned off

... before you turned the switch to 4lo?

If it's beeping, and if it's like my Tacoma, then for some reason it didn't go into low range. If so, then what probably happened is that it senses something wasn't right (vehicle moving, transmission still in gear, etc.), so it didn't allow it to shift.

If I remember right, the transmission has to be in neutral. Try that and see if it works.

what they said, it should say that on your visor, that it will beep at you if you dont follow proper proceedure, i used to own a 2003 Tundra, did the same thing shifting either into 4Hi or 4Lo, it is just telling you its not in gear so you dont think it is in gear. smart by most standards i'd say.
