2006 Downshifting Noticeably when Coasting to Stop

Hello,

I'm new to the boards and just purchased an 06 4Runner. I test drove it and had my mechanic look it over as well. Now I am noticing something that seems odd to me.

When I coast to a stop, without touching the breaks, I can feel the transmission down shifting. There is a slight catch at around 25-30 mph and another one at around 10-15 mph. Is this normal? Or is this something that should be fixed?

Otherwise, the transmission feels just fine and I have no issues. I'm wondering if the computer for the transmission needs to be reset? Thanks.

Are you talking about flat ground or when driving downhill? My 04 will downshift sometimes when I am on the brakes a lot on a downhill. But otherwise I cant say I really notice it. It doesnt sould like anything you need to worry about. As long as it isnt jerking or thumping into lower gears, you should be fine.
