Hi folks-

New to the Forum and I hope to be of service down the road!

For now, I hope someone can help me. My 2003 4Runner Limited rear door is stuck. It has the (annoying) electronic hatch lock assist. I can hear this actuate, but the door won't open. The latch remains engaged. I've tried locking/unlocking with the keys etc and nothing has worked.

Hopefully someone knows a trick to manually unlock the rear hatch door so I can get in there and lube it. Thanks in advance!

 

I don't know the solution, but I have the exact same issue with my 2003 SR5 4runner.

 

It's a known problem with 4th gens. I don't know what the advantage was to make them electronic except to be more mini van like. There's a good forum for 4th gen at toyota120.com

I've had my '08 since the end of January. I've replaced a lot of odd parts. Currently rocking a broken gas door hinge. They're riveted on instead of using screws because screws would make them easy to fix.


My rear hatch, glove box latch, and gas door on my 1989 4Runner still work fine. Sorry for the rant.
