05 tacoma

Ok I think Im gonna buy my wife a 05 dbl cab 4x4 with off road pkg . I have gotten a quote for a dealer offering 500 over invoice ,he said 27k . according to edmunds.com the invoice should be alittle under 26k and with the 500 adtnl should only be 26500. The dealer says the extra is from port instaled features and othe fees. Any ways do you think I can get a better deal ? I told him 26500 i will do unless I get a better deal elsewhere .Any thoughts ?

Edmunds is pretty good about listing all the details on what is "port installed" and such.
Maybe BT17R can give you more details too so I'll bump it for you.

Good luck, I really like those new Tacos!

That sounds like an outstanding deal! I don't think Edmunds invoice pricing includes the advertising fee assessed on every vehicle that varies by region. It's shown as the TDA fee on the invoice, but not shown on the Monroney label on the side window. It's usually anywhere from $400 to $900 depending on your region. Frankly, I'm surprised the dealer is blowing them out at that price already especially since there are no incentives on Tacoma yet.

probably some 32"s would fit great with no mods. might be able to squeeze 33" with no probs, but thats my guess.

well if the new designed tacoma and 4runner are anything like the old ones, you can fir 265/75r16's (32x10.50x16) without doing a thing. the optional size from the dealer is a 265/70r16 (31x10.50x16). unless the new tacoma's are on 17's now?

ok so here is what im thinking . Please tell me if this is reasonable of me to ask of the dealer . I will give him what he is asking but ask that he install the NE lift on the truck for free as part of the deal . I would bring the parts to them. I would also want larger tires do you think they would swap the tires out for tires of my choice if I paid the difference?

I would also like to know how that deal turned out. I just dont think the stealer would put on a lift for you because of warrenty issues. But I guess stranger things have happended. Hope it worked out for you!!

actually, you'd be surprised -- one of our 4th gen. clients took our kit into a Toyota dealership around here and they installed it for him. granted, they charged him about $400 to do the install, but they were more than willing and happy to do it on his 4th gen. with XREAS.

so, it's always worth asking. this dealership was actually EXCITED to put it on, so, who knows!

Thats pretty cool of the dealer to do that. 400.00 is not to bad I dont guess. At least the techs got to do something different for a change, could have been another oil change.

later and have a good one

$400 for a lift install is not bad at all depending on the type of lift. If something did go wrong after install they may or may not cover it under warranty. Toyota warranty is supposed to be good up to 33's for what I understand but I've seen warranty work done to trucks with 35's. Guess it's just all in the dealers niceness.
