Yota on fire.

First thing that happened was my parking or taillights wouldn't shut off, so I pulled the fuse. Then I stuck it in 4 wheel for the first time and all was going good. I got to class after lunch and noticed my parking and taillights were on. The fuse is still pulled. I opened up the cab and the defrosters going. The keys were in my pocket the hole time. I go back inside and come out 2 minutes later and smoke is just rolling out the thing. We get that taken care of and I drive it to pick my dad up. It started back on fire while parked waiting for a train. It seems to only start on fire when it is idleing. I have to disconnect the battery everytime I go somewhere so the parking and tailights go out. The fuse is still pulled on them to. The gauge lights also stay on. What can you guys make of this? Is it because of a short or because I haven't used 4 wheel before? The fire starts near the fuse box from what i can tell. Thanks in advance. BTW. It has a 22R-E, 5 spd, 4wd.

I have no choice. No other vehicles. I just carry a 10mm with me and hop out quick and disconnect the battery once i start to see smoke.

yeah that's a serious safety thing... i mean an over-heating engine that you have to baby down the road is one of those things you might get away with, but a fire... no joke. i had a cheap CD player short and ignite one time and i thought that was it for the 4runner cause electrical fires burn really hot and sometimes there's no stopping it.

Dont Drive it..

Hello
I seen car burn up fast (Esp. Corvettes). Dude your life is not WORTH risking over being in a car that catches on fire.

My buddy got burned bad trying to save his vintage Corvette. I carry a fire extinguisher in my Corvette always.

Can't you take a bus, train, or subway? Girlfriend's car? Don't they have buses to take you to school?

i used to do this thing back in the day when I didn't have a ride it was called a riding a bike. It suked but i stayed in shape and i was a cool dude when i was 12. There's some serious electrical issues with your truck and you should fix them before you do anything else

just because your truck caught fire..doesn't mean that u need a new fuse box..it is probably a ground??? or a hot wire touching something it shouldnt be touching lol

yeah but he is saying that even if he pulls the light fuses the lights stay on. therefore... a positive wire for the light relay is grounding before the fuse box or inside it.

and i believe he said the source of the fire is directly behind the fuse box, he should probably pull it of to see if the problem is back there or the box itself.
