Question Would like advice on replacement seats for my 88 yota pickup...

I have an 88 pickup with stock bench seat and its real hammered nowadays and would like to put a new seat in. Im not sure if I want to go with a bench again or put in buckets. I would like something comfortable but down want to sacrafice compartment size by putting a seat that is way to big for the cab. What do you guy's think. What have you found that worked for you.

seats

i just replaced my stock buckets with a set of 93 Celica buckets seat. they fit great and are comfortable for my 6ft. 165# frame. i don't need big ass truck seats. don't know how big you are but i like to have a nice tight fit with a good lumbar support.

My '88 came with a bench, but I swapped '88 buckets into it about 13 years ago. Those seats are totally shot, so I just put some '85 SR5 buckets in it and they are great. I also have a '94 truck with a split bench, and my "new" '85 seats are way better/more comfortable than my '94 seats.

I like the looks and features of CORBEAU seats but they aren't cheap.

Since you are concerned about space, look for a set of seats from early 90's Mazada Miata. They aren't too wide and have 3" speakers in the head rests. (I have a pair in my Samurai.

My vinyl bench seat was torn and ripped after 18 years, so last year I had a guy that does auto reupholstery redo it for $140 (cash). It looks better than new, and being a bench seat is as uncomfortable as ever. The good thing about bench seats is you can stuff 3 people in a standard cab, whereas you only get 2 with buckets. It also makes it easier for dogs to stretch out and still rest their heads on your lap when you drive. If you go with buckets, you'll probably have to put a center console or something between the seats to fill in the gap

and other things in your lap =P

My bench was surprisingly comfortable for me but it was still reallly worn out. I stuffed foam behind the seat between the springs and fabricate and that helped a lot. The 4runner seats are way nicer. Just wish i had an ext cab so I could skoot em back further.

Smile Got a set!

I took a ride over tot he junk yard on Friday just to pass some time and look for parts. I found a 95 4Runner with a nice set of bucket seats. They were really soiled and the dirvers seat has a wear spot just about through to the foam but not broken through yet. They were pretty comfortable so I figured I'd pull 'em and get them covered. Paid 75 bucks for the pair. Got them home and figured I'd try to clean em up to get me by a few weeks. Much to my suprise they came clean as hell. Just that wear spot. So I will use them for now until it wears through. I highly recommend blue corals carpet and upholstery cleaner. Got it at wall mart for 3 bux. Works better than anything esle on the shelf.

Anyone know where to get stock replacement seat covers?

Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread. Thanks for the help!
