I'm no mechanic, but from my understanding old chevy and ford cylinders aren't odd shaped (kind of like a weird egg?) like the 3vze. Does anyone have any explanation why this is? Not dissin toyotas design just curious why

i didn't know they were.....all the ones i've seen taken apart.....were round....and i've seen alot, but i didn't get to see my own personal 3.0 cuz it was at the shop being rebuilt lol

I'd be very surprised if the cylinder bores weren't round as it would be impossible to hone them otherwise. Sometimes the cylinder heads have non-round combustion chambers for whatever reason (presumably they are designed to optimize the burn and crossflow).

That was my bad on calling it the cylinder, I guess the right words would be the combustion chamber and head gasket.

Concise questions get concise answers.

Very few engines have combustion chambers that actually are round, especially these days. The ones that do are frequently prone to pinging. The (original) Chrysler Hemi, Ford's open-chamber Cleveland, and Honda's RFVC motorcycle heads come to mind.

That said, Honda did make a bike engine for racing that had ovate cylinders and eight valves per.
