Funny story. I saw this poor yota buried in a snowbank in town and after two years got ahold of the owner. I looked in the window and saw it ONLY had 132,000 miles on it with a 22r!!! It's just getting broke in I thought! So I managed to STEAL it from him for $200!!! I replaced all fluilds...all. And replaced windshield, tires, shocks, brakes, filters, belts, battery, and even painted the bastard!! One night I'm at the bar and his brother says "is that your truck?" Yeah it's only got 132,000 on it! - I said....You should have seen the tears coming out of there eyes. "A Dude, the speedo broke back when it had 289,000 on it and I got a junkyard one." The used odometer turns out had around 80,000 miles on it when he put it in....mean my truck has around 275,000 miles. They laughed so hard when they saw I spent all that money on it and painted it!!

wow mine is just a baby! I knew when I picked it up for a grand with a bad fuel sending unit, that I got a pretty good deal. I was a toyota virgin at the time and figured it "only" had 148K on it that I'd prob get 35-50k out of it.

so thanks guys, now i expect 350k lol

p.s. proper maintenance sure helps, I sold my 93 mazda with 219k on it that still ran perfect to pick this up. I always keep up on my vehicles and the mazda had alot of life left, just really wanted a 4x4

Like a toyota truck owner would set it back, NOT. Don't you just love telling someone you ONLY have (say) 295000 miles on her.

*Just turned over 300,000
*3.0 + 5spd
*1988 4Runner SR5
*Replaced original clutch at 280,000, Original engine (as far as I know), Head gaskets @ 220,000, Timing belt @ 270,000. Needs a new steering gear box.
*Minor dent on hood, otherwise she's accident free.
*Her name is Betsy and I got her after she was repo'd from her previous crack-head owners 5 years ago. She goes from Seattle to Portland every 2 weeks and hasn't even hiccuped once. Long live the 3VZE!

my 1990 4 ruuner 22re 5spd. has just under 500,000km on it. not sure what that is in miles. But its very high for mileage up here in canada. engine appears to be original. I put a new head on it when i got it. tranny is on its way out, but all gears still work and doesnt make any noise. just pops outta first once in a while if you dont hold it in. pull our boat with it with no problems. other then the CEL on now, it has never given me any problems.

Heres hoping for another 500,000km outta her.

88 4rnr speed manual 4x4
245k. 22re.
one origional owner, prev to me. Lady's daily driver.
All origional.
head job, gasket, timing chain, all done once.
everything on it works, except the power ant., which I replaced;
took about 3 hours, what a pita.
1 month after i bought it, everything past the end of the clutch rod
went out; master clutch , slave clutch, fork, clutch kit complete, and
throw out bearing went into the tranny and screwed it up as well.
1900 bucks, parts and labor, for everything; almost what I paid for it.

1988 Toyota 4runner, 496,000 miles, 22re, loads of rust, 2 transmissions, 4 timing chains and guides,( the last chain was a double roller and different guides out of a 81? model) two wrecks the last was a rollover -Killed stripped for a few useful parts and now resides in toyota heaven (the crusher at local junkyard) LOL I bought from a postal inspector in Boone NC. It had 395,000 when purchased for $550.00 and I kicked the out of that yoter for a few years, Damn i miss that truck

I think 5000 Km is 310k miles, as in a 10 k race is 6.2 miles / 1000-620 etc

crazy, I just bought basically the exact same rig. 305,000 on the odomoter. pretty sure its original engine, but damn if it doesn't still run fine. and everything WORKS. window regulators, lights, cruise control. not perfect but everything functions except a couple of dash lights.
