Eaton chargers (as in the the GM?TRD ones) are not twin screw (see Whipple Chargers $$$$)
they use a bit different design which creates more heat and are less effective then the others, but they are the cheapest and work well at lower boost levels (upto 10psi)

ANd yes they have 10psi off idle

You guys are forgetting about the early 90's through late 90's Buicks. The Buick Riviera came with a supercharged 3.8, and so did the Park Avenue, I think some chevy's came with a supercharged 3.8 as well, I'm not sure which ones, though. You can pick up a supercharger from a mid 90's Buick for pretty cheap at a dismantler, I would imagine, since the cars themselves are now worth next to nothing. Also, the early 90's GMC Typhoon(Jimmy) had a supercharged 4.3(I believe it was the 4.3). The mid 80's also had turbo charged 3.8 Buicks(regal, Lesabre?) mounted up to the correct drive wheels(rear). I think they all spit out around 7-9 PSI, don't quote me on that.

are you still building 3vze's?

I have made some calls and figured some things out as far as the bottom end goes. The 3vz-fe and 5vz-fe share the same rods so when shoes sent me a rod from his engine i matched them up and they looked the same as the others. I sent them away to Pauter to verify the similarities and after 45min convo (when they got it) we figured that the only real difference is that the pin diameter of the 3vz-fe and 5vz-fe rods are 22mm while the 3vz-e is 21mm ()...so that sucks, but then i figured that when I get the custom arias pistons made for these motors i will have the pin diameter of the 3vz-e piston enlarged to 22mm so everyone can either: Buy high power forged rods from me or for people going with a bit more power can easily grab a set of used 5vz or 3vz-fe rods and match them with the new pistons.

Also we noticed that the small oil relief on the 3vz-e rod is of a ty design and reduces the overall effectually of the motor, so the new rods will be of a much better design.

I am working on lower compression 3vz-e pistons, just need to find the head cc # for me to use. I dont have a 3vz-e head around to measure.

Anyway whoever wants to show off what this little 3."slow" can really do (as i believe it can make some decent power) this is a great option for you!

Also I am in the process of getting cometic MLS headgaskets made to stock here for all the v6's including the 3vz-e....no more head gasket worries

Now time to work on valves
Are you still building 3vze's?

Heads? No...but thanx...I'm curious about improving my 3vze....shops down here in Los Angeles don't know anything about 1990 4runner 5vzfe conversions...my buddy says I should go Chevy small block and he'll do it but I'm afraid an engine like that will crack my frame....so now I'm stuck with the 3vze....don't get me wrong its nice I love it....but I can't supercharge it...so now I really plan on forging my 3vze....

1990 4runner, 3vze, 4wd, r150f, 4-inch lift, stage 1exedy racing clutch, 35's

Wow this is an old thread. Johnny went out of business quite awhile back. I did manage to get a set of his cams though. If you're interested in a set you can still contact Colt Cams and he can grind em up for you.
