You want to be careful doing that SJ... if your hubs don't fully release one day you can end up doing some serious damage or possibly having an accident if one side catches and the other stays free.
I'm not saying don't do it... (I used to lock my hubs in the winter so I could shift on the fly like ADD if I had to) just be careful if you do...

What transfer case do you have? The gear cases are almost impossible to shift when moving, only 4H to 2H is really possible. The chain cases I believe have some synchros (someone can confirm this) in them which allow for shifting up to around 40mph or so and I have done that just like Aviator is saying. I swapped case to gear and forget about it.
Since it is a 94 I would say chain style is what you have.
