who has used a napa brand clutch in their trucks having a problem
hey there i purchased a napa brand clutch and iw as wondering do the v6's have different clutches than the 4 cylinders. i bolted everything up and now the tranny wont go in. there is like almost 2 inches of space left. i used 4 long guide bolts and the transmission is at the perfect angle but it wont go in. the clutch disc fits on the input shaft. im stumped

You use the alignment tool? It may look like its centered but it may not be, my friend and I found this out.
My friend is running a "napa performance clutch" in his 94 PU 3.0 and the pedal is very hard, but the tranny went in.

yeah i used the alignment tool and made sure it was centered. but it still wont go in. i have been rocking it for an hour now with my dad and turning the output shaft

I still have the 22re alignment tool in the garage and a 3.0 clutch that I took off a motor the other week i will check and see how much different they are in the morning.

the disc fits on the splines when i had everything apart. i was thinking maybe the pilot bearing was too small but the alignment tool fit in it

Some of them are sob's to get in for some reason. We used napa clutches on everything (mostly diesel fords and chevys) where I used to work and at times it would take 3 people rocking the tranny to get it perfect but it always worked.
"You just have to hit the right spot" lol
Extra long bolts usually pull them up but you said they didnt work. My suggestion is to put your feet on the x-member and rock/push. Pilot bearings are meant to fit tight and if you are off by just a little they can be aggravating.

Look at the top of the bell housing. I did this recently and couldn't get the damn thing to go in. Turns out a wad of wires in a factory harness had fallen in between the engine and tranny. Took me about an hour to find that.

i got a 3 inch body lift so i dont think i have that problem with wires. so is is bad to pull the tranny together with the bolts i didnt really tighten them up. so is it pretty hard to line up the splines

did you get the tranny all mated up??
I checked the 3.0 clutch to the 22re alignment tool today and it fits the pilot bearing and the clutch disks so if they gave you the correct pilot bearing in your new clutch kit everything should work.

Just did some dual cases in a buddys 22RE. PITA to line the tranny back up, but like chris said, you just gotta hit it right lol. We had the truck on a lift too, still was a pain. Like olharly said, be sure slap some grease on that output shaft to make it a little smoother, and it helps prevent the output shaft from rusting in place if you ever have to pull it again. Hope it works out for you!

The Napa clutch kit is brand new, says it's made by Napa... Part No. NNC MU476281
The Advance one says it's made by Perfection. Again, brand new... And it's $4 cheaper... Part No. MU47628-1

If I had to do it all over again, without question at the very least I'd put a AISIN clutch disc in.
My dumbass just gave a local clutch guy (to get rid of it) AISIN clutch and PP... And got a Perfection clutch kit.
What I should have done was go get a new AISIN clutch disc and put it in...
Instead I got the Perfection kit, and I won't be doing it again.
