Do I understand correctly that you have the cannister hooked up to the manifold as pictured in this post?

that is correct. what should be going there? i wish there was a list of vaccum lines where they should be, etc...

that would make it so much easier.

I looked at my FSM and it the place you have the canister attached is not smog-related accessories. I think it is probably for A/C or cruise control, if you have either of those.

Here is what mine looks like. Notice the valve in the intake has caps on 2 ports and just one hose going out. That hose wraps around behind the EGR modulater and attaches to the front of the valve I'm pointing at mounted on the rear of the valve cover. The hose at the back of that valve runs over to the fuel pressure regulator.

However... the more I look at this, the more I see inconsistencies between your setup and mine, so maybe I'm not the one to follow on this. If this is helpful I'll be happy to continue posting pics and descriptions of what I've got, just keep in mind that our setups appear different.

your help has been greatly appreciated and i do want more pics. i have the diagram from here that me and my mechanic are going to be following. i went by there today and he seemed to know where everything was supposed to go. just finding the time to squeeze the 4runner in his busy schedule is going to be the problem!

well, i just wanted to let you all know that i now have my hoses where they need to go. my mechanic and i looked at the diagram you all posted and we were able to put them where they needed to go. i only had two hoses out of place so that was good. it doesn't drive any different but i did it more for peace of mind. thanks to all those who took the time to help me with the pics they posted and everything else. I really appreciate the help!!!

P.S. I was actually able to replace one of my cracked vaccum hoses with the one I took out of the P port so that was good as well.
