Hey, took a look at this truck. What are these hubs, are they ADD?

Edit- looking closer at that pic it appears those are just a hub cover you would typically see on the back of a rig.

Got a better picture?

If I'm not mistaken, those are auto locking hubs, the precursor to ADD 4wd engagement.
The auto hubs can be replaced with manuals

No that's the only pic I have right now, but can probably take better ones tomorrow when I go to see it in person. I will probably be able to tell if it's ADD or Auto hubs when I see it, just figured I'd ask.

I thought they may be Auto hubs too, but this is a '94 and I don't know if Toyota used them in '94. I would think they would either be ADD or Manual, but would assume Manual wouldn't have a cover over them.

I hope they aren't Auto hubs, those thing suck bad.

You bettertake a closer look at that pic, 'bleederdude,....put yer glasses on, young man!!!! Looks like ADD. Toyota didn't use auto hubs in '94, just for 1 or 2 years in the late '80's.....

Yes, that's the permanently locked hubs with the Automatic Disconnecting Differential. I had the same hub covers; they are the standard ones with that truck.

Yeah kind of figured it was ADD with some ugly hub covers on them.

I agree Space-Junk...they look really dumb. I may have to swap them out with the ADD hub covers from my 4Runner.

This is a 5spd with the 3VZE. I was expecting it to have manual hubs since it's a 5spd, didn't know any 5spds came with ADD. Does that mean that it's the same Xfer case as my Auto 4Runner with the 3VZE?

As far as I know, MOST of the 94 pickups w/ 5 spd & 3VZE had ADD; that's what mine was before I switched to Aisin manual hubs.

What does ADD have to do with the transfer case?? I have the R150f tranny....it's standard manual tranny xfer case AFAIK...

We have not been able to find a difference in the ADD equipped rigs Vs Non-ADD rigs, but toyota says there is a difference.

If anything, it might be a sensor used to actuat the differential, but I am not 100% sure.

In case any clarification was needed, that picture above shows ADD hubs covered by a factory hub cover, which was used on the steel wheels.

Toyota stopped using Automatic hubs in 1988 in the trucks, and 1989 in the 4Runners
