Back in March, I bought a 94 DLX automatic 4 x 4 with 136K. Body was (and still is) essentially rust free. Just some surface stuff in the bed, and it's getting Line-exed tomorrow. Since purchase I've added 2K and done a lot of little things that I'd hate to add up, and one major thing (repaint roof/cab- I forgot the roof did have some rust developing). I had no intention of selling it, but someone left a note on my window the other day asking if I was interested in selling. Didn't think much about it and told him no, but I just read a post from someone that recommended having a price in mind in the event someone asked. I would never recoup my cost, so that's not really a factor. I'd just like some opinions on what a reasonable price would be. Engine is sound. Head gasket and water pump replaced by previous owner. I've replaced one valve cover gasket and doing the other soon. Cruise good. AC/heat good. Seats tear-free. New tires. New decals (thanks to the paint job!). Everything works but the dome light. Thoughts?
i think i hate these posts more than any other post. not because im against helping people out, but because theres no way to answer it. there are too many factors to consider. location is a big one, and more importantly its how much the buyer really wants it. 1500 bucks. 10k. who knows. decide how much you want for the truck to make the sale sit right with you. thats your answer. if you need 8500 to be happy then ask for that. sorry if this doesnt give you the answer you want but everyone will have a price they feel is good for one of these and they will all be different.

Excellent answer. The only way I would sell my 92 4Runner is if someone offered me $8k.That is my current price, may go up, may go down depending on my mood.

I didn’t realize this was a frequent question. Whatever price in my head is pretty unreasonable, and no one is going to buy it at that prices. Besides, I’d just end up looking for another one.

To me that sounds like the perfect number. You don’t need to sell it and don’t want to sell it. If they are going to get it, they need to reach deep into their checkbook or leave you alone.
I think of it like this, every material thing I have is for sale. Not that I want to sale anything. So if someone wants to buy they have to motivate me with price. Now my rig is a DD/wheeler and it’s got lots of trail damage. When guys have asked me I usually quote $12-15k. And when they laugh i point out they asked me unsolicited so piss off.
Well, if you're just going to go out and buy another one I don't see the point in entertaining "reasonable price" scenarios. Let us know when someone offers you stupid money.
