what do you think about my unsettled shackle angles, TG 3"

so finally got my axles under my truck and the rig down on its own weight, but i cant make up my mind about the front shackle, ie. relocate the hanger. I mounted the hanger a hair back from flush and the frame tube closer to the front. they are 3" springs and are supposedly the stiffest ones so i was figuring on less of a settle but this is my first sas so if anyone has had the 3" on a v6...what do you think about that front unsettled shackle andgle??? I think I like it, but really cant tell since ive found very few pics of 3" TG springs for reference.

some people say their springs settle over and inch and a half and some say they barely settled at all, but not many folks are on the 3"ers.



yes I will probably cut the body mount back a bit and remove the rear tow package out of harming the shackles way.

anyone else way in on the front. it looks good as long as it doesnt settle too much.

3" springs: 1/4" in back of the frame. Push the frame tube jig all the way forward in the body mount.
4" Springs 1/2" in front. Center the frame tube jib in the body mount
5" springs 3/4" in front. Center the frame tube jib in the body mount
rear shackles look like they should be find too, having that rear hitch makes an awesome rear recovery point.

I would however, check to make sure the front Driveshaft has enough slip/spline engagement...

yes, thank you. i saw that and is why I did it that way.

i think im happy with it, the tire seems to be positioned well in the fender, im glad i didnt push it forward on the frame like the TG manual says! however, I may have put the frame tube a bit more forward than scotty recommended...But lack of experience i want to get some input on the fronts settling from others who have run or seen many 3" springs...they seem to be a different beast .

it just looks possible that the front if settles more than I expect, might slam into the frame. Im happy with it though, and hope to burn it in soon if I dont get anyone major disagreements.

You are good to go. It will settle another 10* back after a few runs.

Shackles work best / allow the most possible spring action, when their angle is as close to vertical as possible with the springs unloaded / mildly loaded, and do not go over 90degrees, or hit the frame, with the spring fully compressed. Curved leafs get 'longer' when they're compressed so if the spring is still arched when the shackle is horizontal the spring can't get longer and the spring get's stiff... if not solid.

However, I'd say the shackle angle is fine.
