What color to paint the 4Runner?

Now, what exactly did you mean when you said paint the inside of the cut out holes? I'm not following that. I plan on painting the truck after my next paycheck, so in a few weeks. I'm really excited to get started on the paint.
Now about the body rot, it's all taken care of! I ground out all the rust (which wasn't much) and bondo'd over the rusty spots. For under the truck i bought some rust stopping paint AKA bedliner. I also plan on lining the inside of the truck under the seats and stuff to prevent rust. Overall it's a very clean truck rust-wise.

Well, what I mean is, ...Inside those holes that are cut out of that wheel, people have painted that 1/8" or so flange(whatever you call it, lol) with whatever color the truck is. I think just black would be fine, though. Especially if you're going with a solid black top. I'll try to find some to show what I mean.

Ok, this is KINDA what I mean by painting only the inset....it's subtle but allows to show off some detail........

I like it on SOME rims, and actually, like it more on those like your'e getting. but like i said, can't be sure about the yellow, I'd have to see it.
Then, there is always these, if you REALLY wanna be unique?????/..............

SICK, EH? Lol

yeah, i knew you'd like that yellow runner. that rig is decked OUT!!
if you're looking for the color accent on the wheel, i recommend some faux beadlocks and spray 'em yellow. you can buy 'em separate and mount them on the soft 8s, which is what I did (but red), OR you can buy the wheels with the faux beadlocks already attached, THEN paint them. the black steelies at Summit with the beadlocks only come with the old skool "D-hole" look, and i think they're $60-90 rather than $40+.
there's a yellow jeep around ATL with yellow beadlocks. it looks sick, and it's what motivated me to do mine in red. here's one that is similar:

link to plenty more pics of this jeep:

OR you could do the whole wheel in yellow:

i found these by doing google IMAGE search for "yellow beadlocks" the IMAGE feature of google is freakin' awesome for quickly finding what you can picture in your mind, but just can't describe!
oh and of course, here's MY truck with faux beadlocks i painted red, i think they look better than just a red pinstripe:

there's two other little companies making tops as well, but i believe each of them are fold-back convertible style canopies.
the CanBack is a rigid, semi-permanent frame with a top that rolls up on all sides. the "roof" always stays in place. but the steel frame is strong enough that you can mount a rack for gear and put just about anything up there. the CanBack can be a complete replacement top, similar to a Jeep. I've left mine on for years at a time, through winter, etc. it's usually always on, but i'm working with it** right now.
taking off the CanBack is just as many steps as pulling the hard top. but the convertible versions just fold back. you can find them on ebay for sale on occasion, particularly if you search TOYOTA SOFT TOP or 4runner soft top.
**I AM actually in the process of duplicating my CanBack right now. i am making a prototype. if it goes as expected, they will be just as solid as the original, but i plan to sell them for HALF what the new ones are going for. stay tuned.

Right on! Sounds like you're nearly ready. Sweet.

this CanBack was made by the original manufacturer. Since they went out of biz, the name and rights have changed hands a few times. I believe a company is making them again now. a google search of canback will produce the site.

A build thread, eh? lol.....Are you planning on 'building' anything, aside from a "Yellow Paint Fan" Fanclub? Jk, Swimmer, ...I think it's COOL that you're taking such a liking to this truck. I LOVE mine, in spite of all the drama. I thought about your yellow stuff and pictured it under the hood, on all the intake and v.cover stuff, like I did with mine and 'red'.......

That would definitely be original! "Yellow Trim with White letters in white engine bay on yellow truck"....Hmmmm
