What 22re header is this?
I picked up an older, new 22re header off CL for $100 recently. Guy couldn't give me much info other than it's unused, he's had it for about 5yrs on the shelf and he didn't know the make. Not knowing exactly what I was getting, I figure $100 for a new 22r series header was worth a try. If it doesn't work on my truck, I could always make my money back and buy a thorley some day like i've always wanted.
seems to be a typical 4 into 1 header, only thing is i've looked at pics of pretty much every 22re header brand i've heard of - but the pipe layout and collector flange layout don't match any of the others, so i'm stumped. i figure it doesn't really matter, i was just curious so i could easily find the connector flange and extension pipe with the o2 bung for convenience. otherwise i guess i'm splicing it to my stock exhaust until i can afford to replace the whole thing.
I'm hoping I'll be ok with smog with this thing since it doesn't have a CARB or DOT stamp on it, but it's got the EGR holes so I can at least hook my smog back up and hopefully make everyone happy. I also don't really know much about exhaust flanges - anyone know where to get the proper flange adapter for this thing? I'm guessing the connecting part will have the 3-hole flange and maybe a gasket go go between? or is it a ball-socket type flange? IIRC, the exit hole is pretty close to 2.5" ID.
I'll be ordering a remflex gasket and some new exhaust hardware as well to keep it leak free. There's also a sticker on it that says it needs to be painted, so I guess the black on there isn't very heat proof - any recommendations for a DIY application that lasts?

Well, I am now thinking this actually IS a PaceSetter header. I thought all the PaceSetter headers were pretty much identical and never realized they made like 3-4 different styles, with different tube layouts and different collectors, to fit the different applications the 22r-series engine was used in. I'm really not sure why this particular model is different than the other years, but that's what I found here: PaceSetter Toyota P/U
Looks like mine is the 84-89 Toyota P/U, 4Runner, 5-spd only PaceSetter Headers, model #70-1188:

All the pics i'd seen before of the pacesetter must have been the "regular" 84-89 Toyota P/U/4Runner PaceSetter Headers, model #70-1187:

I guess the one I technically need is the 90-95 Toyota P/U, 4Runner 4WD PaceSetter Headers, model #70-1183 since my o2 sensors are both down by the CAT:

So I am assuming that since the header I got will fit an 89 P/U with a 5spd, that it will also fit my truck since they're both 3rd gen pickups with the same drivetrain. I'm going to shoot PaceSetter a message and see if they might be able to clarify. I'm also going to see if they'll sell me the downpipe needed to get it hooked up to my stock exhaust.

If it doesn't have a CARB Exempt badge it's not going to be kosher with the Smog Nazis.
I'd keep the stock set up and throw it on 1 day out of the year for the test and run the header the other 364.
