passenger side floor mat gets wet while raining.I can see water running down the right front corner of the firewall. Any idea where its coming from?

 

Many places. Most common ive seen is where the wiring harness comes in through the fire wall. Water drips onto it and follows the wiring downhill into the cab.

But it would help you more to be atleast kinda sort of specific about what year Ford or Chevy you have.

I just siliconed the hole better around the factory rubber boot.

 

Windshield would be likely candidate as well, your ecu is down there I'd pop the kick panel off to make sure your not getting it wet.

 

Windshield, firewall thru holes, or the wiper valance (pluged drain holes, rusted out corners, or thru the blower intake).

 

Sorry to hear about the leaks! I chased a leak down in my 85 runner for the last 6 months. It turned out to me a leaky seam in the drain portion of the cab thats underneath the wiper cowl area. And also had to reseal the windshield, along with the seams in the fender well where the fender support and cab com together.

I can try to take my fender off and snap a few pics of where I mean if that would help you any. Let me know.

 

I just fixed a leak in my 95 tacoma on the passenger side. After applying silicone to every conceivable hole(with no luck), I bought some seam sealer from an auto store and caulked the bottom edge of my windshield. No more swamp in the passenger floor board.
I can now throw out my desiccant.

 

ecu and plug is dry but water is running down the firewall next to it

 

I just had this experience recently, as well. Turned out I had a little rusting on the cab of my truck at the top of the windshield. Water was running down the inside and dripping from under my dash onto the passenger floor.

 

Only while raining? Wet passenger side carpet can sometimes be caused by a blocked drain line in the A/C evaporator. Water condenses on the cold coils, and is supposed to drip out underneath, but if the drain is blocked it overflows and ends up on the carpet.

But if it happens mostly while raining, that isn't it.

 

Have a sunroof?

 

Scope, you might be onto something. Its much more humid when it rains (duh) so there will be more moisture in the air to collect on the coils making it a much more noticeable problem when its raining.

I have resealed the windshield and around wiring harness with no luck.. (no sun roof)

After sitting out in the rain for about 30 min it still leaks.
Going to remove blower to see if I can find water trail

 

Found it.....seam sealer missing in a spot behind blower motor housing..

 

good possibility is a rust hole in the drain trough where the windshield wiper mechanism is. Just pop the cover (the body panel with slits that sits between the windshield and the hood). You have to remove the wipers first the slip it off. Remove the plastic mesh covers under that and you will see inside the trough. The floor of that trough is the "ceiling" of the cab up under dash.

Use a flash light and look down all along the common seam with the firewall. Chances are you have a rust hole along that and probably down to the far end. If you are lucky the hole is small and some seam sealer will fix er up. If its worse like my truck was, its patch or weld time.

Could you tell me a little more about what was causing your leak. Mine has been leaking a little water when it rained into the passenger side floor. I just had my window replaced last week and it is still leaking. After seeing the windshield out of the truck I don't see how it could be it leaking based on where the water is coming from. I suspect that it may have something to do with my fresh air intake under the cowl or somewhere in the fender. It seems to be leaking around where the fresh air intake is located. You seemed to have had a similar situation. Anything you can tell me about where to look or what to check would be greatly appreciated!

at the bottom of your blower motor, there is a drain for water, from condensation with the ac on. That is where the puddle of water is from near passenger tire usually. There is a little curved pipe with a rubber fitting and gasket. Connects from that little drain to out of your fire wall. This could have come loose, if so, hopefully it got caught on something and didn't get dropped somewhere.

Could this be the cause of a rain leak on a truck without A/C?
