After more research I needed to delete all the crap I had written & chnage it. Now my question is why would I be leaking fluid on TOP of my tranny where, or very close to, my tranny & t-case are mated together? I degreased it & it's definitely leaking from the TOP. Thanks.

That's where I looked @ pic's. My tranny looks just like the W56 on that site but also looks just like the R150F on Marlins site: http://www.marlincrawler.com/transmi...complete/r150f

After looking @ all the tranny's on Marlin's site I now have to say I have an R150F. Evidently 4x4wire has the wrong pic's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I changed my 1st post to reflect my now current situation. BEWARE of the pic's pertaining to tranny's on 4x4wire.com!

Yes you have an R series trans. Its behind a V6... I think they vent around the shifter boot, don't they? Or is that just the W series? You certain it's not over-filled? If its coming out of a vent, I'm not sure what would cause fluid to be forced out in that manner

It's not over filled. A couple days ago I put in a quart & it never reached the fill hole(the allen head flush bolt towards the top of the tranny on the pass. side). So today I drained it all & added MT90(3 qts., still need another .5 qt.). It appears it's been leaking for a while.

I'm not certain that is the fill plug. I thought all fill/drain plugs were hex head bolts on the Toy trannies. I have an R150F at home that I can look at tomorrow afternoon. It's usually only about 1/3 or 1/2 way up the side of the trans. My G52 & the W56 I am swapping in is about 1/2 way up the side, and it's a hex head bolt on both. And it's a hex head in my FJ40 also. Maybe research a bit to see if you can find out for certain. And I will check tomorrow afternoon on the R150F I have as well.

I looked on Marlins site, transmissions, R150F, and googled the fill plug and on another website it listed the filler plug. It's the hex head bolt you see on the driver side of the trans towards the bottom, in the Marlin picture. Sounds like you over filled it...

Oh crap! Did the fluid I add actually go into the correct place? I can't find that bolt that I took out on any diagrams. It only has 3 qts. in it now so IF the fluid actually ended up where it is supposed to then I should be good. ANY idea if my truck is drivable? I'm needing it for work @ 5am!!!!!

I believe the totalamount of fluid for the trans is 3.2qts(6.4pints). If it were mine I would drive it until I could take a few minutes to drain it ALLout and refill til it pours back out of the fill plug. If your confident that it only has 3.4qts in it, you should be ok. I believe the plug you took out was a detent for the gear selection. There is a spring/ball in there as well. Make sure they are still there.

The top of that diagram shows the Allen head bolt and spring...

I just went & checked the REAL fill plug. About 1/5 of a qt. came out so evidently the fluid I added made it to the correct place. I drained it earlier so it would have been empty if the hole I used didn't make it to the correct area. I saw no spring in there. BUT this is the hole I used last week to add fluid & there wasn't a spring then & I've driven it about 200 miles since then. I appreciate all your help!!!

**After looking @ that diagram again, that's not the allen(for the spring/ball) that I removed. The one I removed was a lot further forward, almost @ the bellhousing. Maybe the PO overfilled the tranny & then I compounded the problem. I'm going to degrease it real good again now that I know it has the correct amount of fluid & see if it's still leaking on TOP. Damn, what a train wreck this thread turned out to be!!!!!

I checked out my R150F trans and I saw the plug you were originally referring to. It seemed a bit high to be a fill plug, but I could be wrong. It may be some type of inspection/adjustment plug? I don't know. I will research it though and see if I can find out.

I thought it was in an unusual place for a fill plug but I'd read somewhere they used that plug. It sure is easier reaching that plug thru the fender w/my 4" lift than it is crawling under it!!! I'll use the correct one from here on out, though.
