Weird possibly electrical problem?

So i hadnt driven my 88 for ~2 weeks since we were out of town, and it ran great before we left with no issues. So I took it for a drive last night and it drove great until it was warmed up. Once it was warmed up the motor started dieseling at idle (dropping rpms, then going back to idle... kinda like a DSM does for instance). Then as soon as I get into the throttle and start moving BOTH the brake light and Charge light come on. As soon as I let off the throttle they go away again.

WTF is going on... I got it home, but im assuming the alternator is not charging or something. any ideas?

My 92 had a problem like that last year it did once on the way home then stopped and then the next day did it on the way to work, and then again on the way home but that time it dead out and I all of the sudden had no power from the battier, was able to boost it and get it home.
Changed the battier and it was fine.
Not sure about yours but maybe check that battery and alternator

Probably a bad alternator. Mine was still charging but would drain my battery when not running. My lights also came on every so often.

i say Alt.

faster it spins, more amps it puts out (until a certain point.)

Sounds more like the regulator than the alternator itself
alternator is putting out amps, regulator isnt regulating.

This is because your alternator belt broke. The alternator and the water pump both share the same belt, when it brakes the charge lite and the brake light both come on, the motor starts to overheat because the water pump has stopped pumping and your idle RPM increases because it now has a lot less drag to deal with sans the water pump and the alternator.

You're car is mad at you for leaving her for 2 weeks!

Na, it's probably just your alt.
