Starting from first and lower rpms in second there is a squealing screeching noise coming from my tranny or motor. It also does it in other gears between 3500 - 4500 RPMs. Not all the time but the noise is becoming more frequent and lasts for a few seconds. Any ideas on the cause? Clutch bearing?

 

does it go away when you depress the clutch pedal?

 

Any unusual vibrations?

 

makes no difference if the pedal is in or not. no unusual vibrations

 

Im sure it has something to do with the clutch.

 

Anyone else know????

 

Check your belts first.

 

update. noise from startup and noise while driving is different. in most gears now above 4k rpms there is a loud screeching coming from somewhere under the hood. but everytime i go to mechanic it mysteriously doesnt make the noise. input shaft bearing?
