Now that almost everything else is fixed on the 89 4runner (except that damn CV boot that busted) I'm considering fixing the AC system. The only problem is that I'll have to replace the compressor and other related things, and it's expensive. So I can either fix the AC for the hot summer on the way or I can spend that same money on water proof seat covers, maybe some tube doors, and pull the top off. Probably need a bikini top again also.

So what do you guys think? AC fix or more fun way of keeping cool?

 

I say screw a/c. It's overrated.

 

I like going topless and doorless, but here, when I do. I can't go anywhere in the 4runner where I have to look nice during the heat of the summer.

when the hard top off is off, and the full doors and windows closed, the ac actually does a good job keeping the front passengers cool. i cant say the same for the rear passengers!

with that said, i prefer the top off and using the bikini top from wabfab (but i really want a full soft top). early last summer, i scored half doors on craigslist for cheap. this is my daily driver, and i get funny looks when i drive it like this going to work in kahkis and dress shirts.

with that said, i would say you'd be happier with the top off with a bikini and half doors/tube doors.

Jacket and tie with no A/C would give me heat stroke.

 

I had a Wabfab bikini top for a summer but sold it, stupid mistake. If you want to sell yours let me know.

I talked to my lady and showed her some pictures and she likes the bikini top and full doors better than half doors. Now I just need to find a set of good water proof seat covers that I can afford and that will cover the back seat.

 

i also want waterproof seat covers. i havent looked very hard, but i have only found wetokole.com and coverking.com that can probably do covers for our rear fold and tumble seats. i've tried the automated ordering system on both sites, but i have not been able to system order seats for the rear. i havent tried to call it in yet.

as far as the bikini top, i'll let you know when i decide to sell it. however, i am only planning to sell it once i buy a full soft top. i like the canback soft tops because their kit allows you to be able to add a roof rack, but they are out of business and finding a used one in good condition has been hard. the only company that i know of now that sells new is softtopper.com but that cannot handle a roof rack.

so many wants for this money pit!!
