Water in rocker panel

I've read about the sunroof drain tubes getting clogged causing water to pool in the rocker panels. Water build up has occurred a couple times, only recently, I pulled the plastic drain plug end of rocker panel, water comes out. 2 questions. Why would clogged drain tubes cause water to pool in rocker panel since as I understand it the design is for the tubes to drain into the rocker panels? Other than the hole with plastic cap at end of rocker panel, are there any other outlets for water to get out (that may now be clogged)? Thanks for any insight.

if you look at the bottom of the rocker pinchweld , there are drain holes 4 or 5 .. these are obviously plugged . poke something in there to free up the clog

I think Slacker is on the money with this, if the drain tube itself plugs up the drip pan around your sunroof fills up with water and every time you go/stop/turn you take a bath.

This patch, along with the others, were sealed over the holes. Someone did aftermarket rustproofing? And foolishly covered over drain holes....? I had thought this grey stuff was factory. I never noticed the patches.

It's hard to tell what angle this pic is taken from, but I think what you need to look at is in the bottom right of your photo see the hump? There should be a slot in the bottom of the pinch weld that you need to clear out. there should be several of them on each side of the truck.

OK I got it, thanks. I just cleared slots. I do think some of this undercoating affected one side to some extent. There seemed to be some up in the slots. Guess I'll reseal the patches. Do you have the same grey undercoating, with outline of square patches, just curious?

The color of the under coating can be different with each different company that applies it. This is usually applied at the dealership during predelivery detail service. Usually done by a subcontractor and not the actual dealership. Some apply a heavy undercoating and some apply just cosmoline to the undercarriage. Looks like they did a good job on yours and just forgot to take the covers off the holes after application
