Is my transmission toast?

Coming home from work last Monday it sounded like a rock slide in a trash can under my cab, intermittently. The truck also had a pretty bad vibration / shimmy. I could push the clutch in and reduce the noise, after starting from a stop and shifting into second / third the noise would reoccur. 3.0 with the factory five speed transmission.

Have you crawled under and looked at anything?? Pushed the driveshaft around, checking for loose u-joints or flange bolts???

Noises have many different potential origns.

I looked under it, and nothing was dragging on the ground! I had the u joints done maybe 20k miles ago, but I should see if anything wiggles.

At this point I'm already committed to a new TRD off road, but I imagine a prospective buyer might like to know.

Having u joints done is all well and good but in 20000 miles have you used a grease gun on them?

22 year old truck lots of bushings, transmission/TC/motor mounts etc like to fail. Change the oil in the third recently? Check d/s bolts at the pinion and output
