warning about auto to manual hub swap
I just finished swapping in some warn premium manual hubs on my 1st gen runner.
the auto hubs were old, only worked once and awhile, and made tons of noise. I got put this project off for so long because i needed the Warn conversion kit to put the manuals on. The warn kit you can find for about $90 shippied at the LEAST...a member here on the forum Napoleon047 was selling his warn hubs and I asked him if he still had the conversion kit i could buy...It comes out he gave me some AWESOME advice. The Warn kit is the EXACT same thing as the Wheel Bearing Nut Kit from trailgear. You need two of these kits from Trail Gear..total cost: $17+shipping.
I took Napoleon047's advice and ordered the items. I installed the hubs today and they went on JUST as they should! I also tested them out and they work great...i only had one snag in the whole operation that slowed me down...I stripped a screw head..I was using a screw extractor...the screw extractor BROKE inside the screw...I neded up having to drill through most of the screw and pull the auto hub clutch off with vice grips...snapping the screw in half.
Here is a link to where you get the parts ontrailgear's site
If you have any questions about the install PM me and i should be able to help you out.
REMEMBER
there is NO need for the warn conversion kit!
