Hey. I've got a 1986 pickup. It's got a 22r all bone stock mated to the 5 speed manual also stock. My rig has 5' suspension lift on it and 2" of body sitting on 37" super swamper boggers on locked front and rears with 5.29's. its a serious mud machine. I plan on putting a 4.3L Vortec from a friend of mine's totalled blazer in it. But for right now i want to put a snorkel on the stock motor. I've looked online a lot and i found safari snorkels makes one for over $500 and that just seems outrageous. I want to make my own but not sure how to go about it. I want it to be very efficient and not restrict airflow but also look somewhat clean on the rig. and of course i need it to work. ANybody got any ideas or anything? I'd greatly appreciate any help. I know a bunch of people have posted it, but not too many have really given any installation details for this. like the materials required where to cut holes, how big, and also my biggest problem is PVC is nice and cheap but it also fades and cracks in the sunlight... and living in georgia the sun is hell on any exposed pvc that isnt properly shielded... so does anyone have any ideas how to prevent this also. I'm all ears on this. My Truck has been buried almost over the hood and it has gotten water splashed on the carb.. but it was still pulling.... i cant seem to get it stuck before water stops it... so im trying my best to be able to push it to its absolute limit....

 

try abs pipe im in the process of fabing one for my toy and im using a few abs fittings and so far it looks very clean, i also have another set up where i cut a hole in my hood and designed a very simple cold air induction out of an s-10 air box and it works excellent i used a cone filter you can checked it out on my yota tech page torchman

Snorkel is a great idea! flexible hose from the air cleaner to the fender out to a threaded pvc 3.5" tube straight up to a great all weather pod style filter.. Spray paint black.. Miscellaneous bends if needed.. find the one that fits

Mak ur an ass, but awesome. CantStopTheYoda Sometimes the best thing to do is try something new and make it up as u go. So start by swapping side that the battery is on with the airbox and have fun
