I recently had my engine rebuilt, and I noticed the rpm gauge surges ever so slightly after the initial start up. It drops off to around 600-500 rpm's rough idle almost. I think their mechanics must have hooked up a vacuum line incorrectly, that being the VSV. Or it needs a idle adjustment(open the valve) on the throttle body. Other than that, it runs great, I have roughly 200 miles on it 94 4x4 runner.

So my question is the VSV located on the backside of the engine plenum supposed to connect to the throttle body nipple? Because its blocked off. I have a 3VZ.

maybe try a search on the forums for the vacuum diagram that is on the underside of the hood?

I have no idea, but that intake looks cleeeaaannn.

I did, I've looked at them all. Its too generic. As you can see the hose leaves the VSV, and goes somewhere near the intake body. But as to what nipple or port I have no idea..

Mine is hooked up just like yours (except my block-off is black, not yellow).

The port to which the VSV connects is closed at idle (it sucks the fuel vapors out of the vacuum cannister; the VSV only allows it when warm, and the port only opens off-idle). So I don't think that's your problem.

It ended up being the ignition timing, the mechanic advanced it 3* and it solved the issue. He said that air leak noise, is my fan bracket bearing going out.
