I'm cheap, so I always go with the route I can afford without sacrificing quality when I can. I guess I assume too much that others do, also. That's why I posted those links about the coil spring over the leaf.

There are air bag kits that would suit your purpose...for leaf springs. I may get some for my wife's '92 4rnr with stock coils. Haven't decided. I just recently learned Moog makes a good coil replacement.

Anyway, shackles can easily fabricated if you have friendly welding shop you frequent. VERY cheap! A couple pieces of metal, bolts, bushings, and you're done. Doesn't do much for the comfort, though. Like blocks.

Other than that, I agree that a new leaf pack would be the best option. I've had an AAL installed, but it didn't last as long as I thought it would. I tend to haul weight a lot. Maybe you don't.
