Vacuum Lines are amazing

I recently took apart my 92 22re to replace the headgasket. Stupid me thought that the vacuum diagrams were fairly accurate. So it is all assembled now, tps adjusted, afm good, and I have a surging idle. My guess would be vacuum leak? Anyone with any input, maybe some pictures of the correct vacuum hook ups and such? Just trying to get this sorted out till summer. Thanks.

Yeah Im a little lost guys I sat there with a can of wd40 for a couple hours checking vacuum lines and only found one bad one, fixed it and not a damn bit of help lol. One other thing my truck still has white smoke out the exhaust. Burning water I suspect what are other possible culprits? I hear the timing cover is a common issue but does it let water directly into the cylinder?

Surging idle fixes:

Also check for low coolant level and/or air pockets in the cooling system. Causes ECU temp sensor to alternately see hot/cold/etc. and that causes idle to surge.

Well, mine ended up being the idle. I turned the screw until it was closed and it still ran fine, so I just opened it a quarter turn. Idles nice and low and no more surging when coming off the throttle. Thanks for the info to fix this guys!!
