Just ordered the Hella 55/100s can't wait to put em in. The guy from rallylights told me yotas usually have pretty beefy wiring and I shouldn't need the upgreaded harness. But we'll see how they do, then maybe this spring when it warms up I'll put one in. As for the tires, I'll probably go with the 32x11.5s. They will give me a little more pick up than the 33s.

Worth checking the voltage at the headlight while you are swapping out the lights. Only takes a minute to do and then you'll know if the wiring is up to the task or not. I know my '85 wiring was not, even with the 60watt bulbs and for sure not with the 100s. HAving full voltage to the light bulb will help it to last longer as well as put out more light.

does anyone know which of the hella's to get for an 03 taco, out of the H4's, and are these a direct fit. i like the +30 and +50 xenon long life.

I went through this same pondering a little while back--how to upgrade the lighting on my '85 pickup. I followed 4Crawler's advice and pretty much duplicated his setup. I purchased Hella Vision Plus H4 conversions (they came with bulbs), and I purchased 4Crawler's wiring harness. I installed the wiring harness first, and it by itself was a HUGE difference. I couldn't believe my same dim yellowish headlights could do that! Then I installed the Hellas and there was another noticable improvement. Between the two upgrades, I think the harness did the most.

When it came time to upgrade the harness on my '90 4Runner, I purchased the wire harness first. I have not purchased the Hellas for it yet.

I do not get flashed at all in either vehicle, and the lighting is all DOT legal. I've used the Sylvania SilverStars H4's in other vehicles, I did not purchase them for this conversion. While the SilverStars are brighter, they are only designed to last a year (per Sylvania). Mine only lasted 9 months, and they are too expensive IMHO to burn out that fast.
