so i putting my 22re back together i have this part i have no idea what it is i looked at the pics i took and all the pics Bleeder-Dude's pics and can't locate it in any pic i have, and have no idea what it is or if i need it any more.

it was in my box of parts i think it came off one of them i have a 91 22re and a 87 22re i took the best of both and hope to have one running soon. most of the 91 got junked when the timing chain broke.

You all are correct, that IS an alternator bracket.

This one is just holding an aftermarket GM Alternator.. but its bolted to a Toyota 2RZ-FE .. basically same thing.. its a toyota part.





eh, this pic the person had to move the bracket lower so he made his own then bolted the stock one to it.

you had two donor motors and you're parting em out to make one, so you'd have two brackets, find the other one and compare? Maybe the alternators were different on those two motors and had different style brackets to fit them?

The bolt pattern on a 22 block matches that bracket atleast.



I bet it just depended on the alternator that was used on the motor.

o i have another question i might as well ask before i start a new topic on my fuel fillter i have a banjo fitting on each side i some how lost one of the bolts any idea where i can get a replacemnet i havent seen a 2nd gen with the 22re in a junk yard by me to snag one there and the guy at the toy dealer looked at me like my hair was on fire he said all the 22re's have compression fittings so i'm looking for a bolt with a hole in it

Wonder what he meant by "compression fitting"? It has a ferule on it like aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge line? It's flared like brake lines? Sheesh. I suppose you could call it a compression fitting since you have to tighten it down to seal the copper washers to the fuel filter, banjo bolt and banjo fitting on the hose though.

I would have asked him to get a fuel filter and a fuel line then asked him how one connects the line to the filter. Then I'd offer a smug smile while gloating over the puzzled look on his face for a few seconds. Before he got too confused, I'd then ask him to get the service manager to help him figure out WTF he's talking about.

Anyhow, most any 22re should have the same filter / fittings, so an EFI'd Celica from the early 80's should have the bolt(s) you need too. Basically any 22re you can find should have it... or you could hit up hydraulic / tractor supply stores or one of the vendors here on yotatech... DeathCougar, waskillywabbit, etc., or an autoparts store like autozone or napa- they may have a fitting that replaces the stock banjo bolt and allows a pressure gauge to tap in (which you'd just plug).
Just checked autozone.com and they offer an autometer banjo bolt adapter, #2276, which is for that exact purpose. It is a 12mm banjo bolt with the head tapped with 1/8" NPT fitting for fitment of a sensor or such to connect to a gauge. It's special order and 16 bucks so probably a bit spendy compared to junkyard pricing. ya i have to try the pick and pull about 90min from here the 4 closer junkyards have so few Toyota's it's hard to find any thing the only r motor i have found is a old striped block of a 20r. in the three yards with in 45 min of me there are less then 10 Toyota pickups and 4runners in total and of thos only 3 or 4 even have a motor in them and it's all the 3.0. sometimes it sucks to have such a long lasting truck. They just rust away before they die up here.
