Uh oh....

K, so im starting to do my timing chian because it needed to be done... so the last couple days ive been getting this antifreeze leak from up front, only after i drove... never overheated. So today i started to work on my truck, and i took off the oil cap and it had a bit of foam under it!!!!! my question is, is my truck screwed? or am i safe that i caught it just in time?? i got a new cover and everything so i wont be using the old one.. im just worried some is going ot be messed up now since im guessing it leaked a bit of antifreeze int o the oil..

Drain the oil, check it. Maybe you caught it early. I don't know much 'bout the 22re motors, sorry

drain the oil and see how much coolant is in it. if its not that much then you might be ok. pull your valve cover and look for coolant on top of the head could give you an indication of how much collant got in. may have to do a couple oil changes to get it all cleaned out so i would start with some cheap dino oil first and maybe something that will help take the moisture out of the system. the only way to know if you hurt anything is to drive it and pay close attention listen for anything new pull your rocker arm cover and look for coolant on top of the head around the valves.

As long as you didn't overheat it, and your engine wasn't knocking, you are fine. You caught it early. Get a new timing cover, change the oil a few times, and next time when the front of your engine sounds like a can of spoons, fix it. Don't let it get this bad.

valve cover seals are easy- wrap some duct tape or electrical tape around some channel-lock pliers and work it.

so, now what?

mine already had metal guides when I bought it at 87K miles...So I dont think my t-chain is rubbing the cover. Abe has mentioned that its possible the Intake manifold gasket is leaking, or the IAC valve.
didn't mean to hijack
So you already have the t-chain changed? or you're doing it right now?

oh lucky!!
doing it right now, taking the odd breaks. not to much of a rush just need to get it done by monday so i can drive to work. Im just taking my time and seeing how everything works... its my first time into this engine and yeah. One thing that concerns me is that one of the bolts from the P/O mustve broke while doing something with the water pump or timing chain cover.. so now im stuck with one less bolt.. what do i do now?

Yeah, thats understandable! I would be taking my time too, and checking everything out Its fun to do!.
bolt: Get a new one from like Ace Hardware or Lowes or somewhere like that maybe.

You should take a lot of pics with the cover off. I want to see what it all looks like.
