ugh.. Rear Antilock light on, and stays on

i checked the really, it looked good. the only thing i can think that caused it is when (a) i blew my cigarette lighter, same day, but i replaced that fuse, or (b) when i was four wheeling in snow this week

so how can i fix it, or determine why its acting up?

is it locking up? or rephrased, is the locker engauging and working... like a locker?

or is the rear staying open?

NEVERMIND, I'm an idiot... rear ANTI-lock, like ABS light...

lol, wow, it's past my bedtime...

ok, ummmm, how's your rear brakes look physically? not how they work, but how much life does it look like they have left on them? may just be coencidence and it's time to change them?

I'm not 100% sure, I don't have ABS on my drum-equiped 91 PU, but it could be a sign, similar to how having low fluid will cause the parking brake light to come on, or how when the altenator dies the brake and battery light come on...

just might be one of those signals Toyota built in; gotta love them engineers

maybe someone with a little more knowlege on it can chime in though!

I'm having the same problem with mine. I noticed the rear antilock light flicker on and off a few times when I was driving down a rough dirt road. one day it just never went back off and has been on for a few weeks now. I have brand new rear shoes and have them adjusted so I'm kinda lost...

If the light is one you can pull the abs codes. Do a search for it.

Just to be clear, its the ABS lamp not the red BRAKE lamp?

If its the ABS lamp, 9 times out of 10 its the sensor. The sensor is probably on the axle housing. Pull it out and inspect/clean it. You can check if its still good with a multi-meter and the values in the FSM. There is also a gap you can check between the sensor head and the ring it sits above.

Is the ABS still working or no... Maybe the pump or electrical components are gone on it.

On my 94, the rear ABS was actually kinda scary, never did work the way it does on new vehicles so I pulled the fuse and never looked back
