truck will not start after steering column work

Ok so here is my story. I own an 88 pickup 4x4 w/22re that is not getting any power to the fuel pump. How it started was that one evening i went to fix the horn for my truck by shimming out the cluster on the steering colum that has the turnsignal levers and switches so that the pin would complete the circuit to the steeringwheel so the horn would work and it did. while i was doing that i got some spark and thought nothing of it. That was untill the truck wouldnt start after i got it all back together. i am getting spark and the truck is turning over. there are no blown fuses at all. so i replaced the EFI main relay, Circuit opening relay, and the fuel pump. still i get no power coming out of the circuit opening relay aven though there is power coming in when i turn the truck over. i even snagged an ohmmeter and tested the Air Flow Meter and got all of the correct reading except for E2-THA which is the test for the temp sensor, i got a reading of 0.0 on that. as of now i dont know what else to do other than to burn it to the ground unless someone here can help me out. Thank you-Kelly

Applying 12v to the Fp terminal in the diagnostic plug doesn't help?

verry good tip

there is a jumper on the diagnostic plug under the hood by the fuse box

I can't remember which ones, but I'm sure a search could turn it up

actually, I guess that's what Abe was getting at

giving that wire some juice should run the pump

If it will help (not sure how much wiring they have in your specific FSM) - here is a link to all toyota FSM's. You'll find your year and engine type near the top.

If Lysmachia's tip don't help...

88 22RE engine wiring

Do yourself a favor and right-click and "Save As..." then open and print it.

well i put the old circuit opening relay in because the new one had too much resistance and i was able to hard-wire in a toggle to the fuel pump to make it work temporarily but i still wanna try to figure out what the hell is the problem cuz i dont want to have a toggle to make it work. bah. yeah i know not to work on something with the battery connected i had a 'bout of temporary retardation that evening (too much to drink) so i guess i learned a new lesson to pass on to others. WAIT TO DRINK 'TILL AFTER YOU WORK ON YOUR TRUCK. so for now the toggle will have to suffice because tomorrow i need to put a new tranny and clutch in, but still if anyone has run into this problem ar thinks they may know why i dont get power to the pump please feel free to comment. thank you

how did you wire the toggle in? That might help us narrow down what's not working.
