Which Tru Trac model for IFS diff?

Good evening, I have an '87 4Runner and I am interested in a Tru Trac LS for the front diff. There are two model numbers: one for a 45mm hub and one for a 50 mm hub. Does anyone know what size hubs an '87, 22re, 5 speed with manual hubs has? Thanks. Mike

I've never heard of the truetrac having a hub size. You want the one for the 7.5" IFS. There are two versions. The difference is the number of splines on the axle shafts and the axle diameter. For the 22RE engine, you'll probably want the DET911A445 model.

If you want to be certain, pull the axles out and measure them and count the splines.

wtf, ive never heard of that kind of description.

Toyota IFS manual hubs are the same from 86' to 95.5 and the differentials are all 7.5". 27 spline axles.

thats it at summitracing

the info is conflicting though since it says 30 spline then it says 27 spline. I would call them to make sure you get the right one.

The 8" toyota dif is 30 spline so when a description says pickup/4runner front it means 85 and older. The front differential in the solid axle is identical to the rear. fyi

I have a Truetrac in my rear and have plans to transfer it to my front axle when I SAS and put a full detroit in the rear. I like the truetrac a lot.

The trutrac for the rear has 100ft/lbs of preload, I believe the one for the front does not.

My experience with JAWS gears was a negative one, so it would be my recommendation to find a different supplier.

NWOR lists a split at 89 (akak Gen 2 vs Gen 3)

Me guesses you want the smaller one.
IMHO call the supplier you plan to purchase from ant let them figure it out (if they are wrong they have to eat it)

Thanks Targetnut and ewong. I had planned to buy from 4WheelParts. JawsGears was the only website that gave specific applications for the two part numbers. The "driveline" guys at 4WPs had all gone home when I called the tech line Monday evening. Mike
