My Runner's a '94 (Black) that appears to have been garaged kept most of its life but the decals have the usual sunfaded/baked look. Im going to try wet scrapping them down with a razor blade and hot soapy water first, then Im guessing some 1500-2000 wet sand paper will take down the rest enough so i can mask the original decal off and re-paint it (satin black with a silver and red pinstrip along the bottom edege) ....

 

Try the heat gun first. Worked like a charm for me, and if it doesn't work you can move on to more invasive methods.

 

I used the eraser wheel. It worked perfectly. Don't waste your money on anything else

 

Would a hair dryer work? How much is an eraser wheel and do you use it with a drill?

 

I tried a lot of these "tricks" without much success on my 1989. I ended up using a DA sander to remove them then it went to Maco for a paint job. Be careful when you start a job that can get overwhelming.

 

Yea I'm still on the fence about it, I'm going to be re painting over where the original decal was so I really don't need to remove it completely...I'm thinking I'll carefully scrap it with some soapy water and see what that does...if that doesn't take it down enough I could always use a high build primer and wets and it...do they sell the stripe kits still?

 

GOOF OFF and a razorblade. use the one in an aerosol can! professional grade or smthng. wrked great on my 89 pickup. def a different color under the stickers.

 

Sounds like a good idea, I think that's what ill try first. I'll see if auto zone has the spray

 

I think u will have better luck at a home improvement or hardware store. Just my .02
