Tranny 92 pickup help
Is it difficult to change a tranny in a 92 pickup 4x4 5 speed? I work in a machine shop but I dont have that great of knowledge when it comes to automotive.I think its a 22re but not sure it is fuel injected if that helps.I had no problem changing my timming chain and front seal if that has any comparison to the difficulty. Also could anyone tell me were is the # on the trannny front back side?

Dropping a tranny is pretty easy it just takes some time. Just be sure to use/rent/find/steal a tranny jack.
Is the motor a 4cylinder? If so then yes it is a 22re. If it's a 6 banger then you have the 3.0 or 3.4 (I think).
I have no idea where the numbers are, sorry about that.

92 would be either v6 (3vze) or 4 cyl (22re). Since you claim doing a timing chain and not a timing belt on it, that suggests it's the 4 banger (22re).
why are you looking at changing the trans?

Yes it is a 4cyl I should have mentioned that.It is stuck in fourth gear and will not come out. I posted it on another thread and got some clues.I took the shifters out and it had chucks of metal in it some about the size of popcorn seeds. The clutch works i had it in low range trying to get it to come out today.
