heres like 500 pics

I have a 93 pickup AND 88 4runner...
had no issues with either 3L, both rigs are tough...

if I had to pick one over the other... wow... not possible...
you have to think of the application...how will you use it?...do you want to hual ppl? ( I wouldnt recommend too mahy fatties in a 3L

just have fun and mod when you get $
OR
try and find a rig that has stuff done to it already (ie lift, tires, stereo, whatevs)

Between 18mpg in the city and 27 hwy.

4Runner VS truck, for offroad, I'd go for the truck- its less top heavy.

Any Toyota is tougher, rougher, rugder, stronger, and lasts longer than any other vehcile in the worst situations. A toyota is built for war. It is not in your manual but they are built tought enought to take on any desert in the middle east and the iraqis use them in war as their primary trasnport and so do some US amry personel. Any Toyota is fine in my book. But the 22re is indeed the motor on top of them all in longevity.

being 16 you may be inclined to speed a lifted 1st gen 4runner is top heavy and they do flip pretty easy.
if you go with a 4runner or lifted 2nd gen truck don't hit corners too fast I got hit at a very slow speed and got put on my side and have had a friend flip theirs in a corner.
I know it will happen again at some point in my life. but i am ok with that I like my 4runner too much to stop driving one.

Well, you'll be glad to know 31x10.50's came stock on our trucks. You can clear up to a 33x10.50" tire with Minor fender trimming.

I know you said no body lifts, but keep the option open for a 1"
