f= 7.5 inch, first part of 372 being 37 =3.583 ratio, second part 2 refers to a 2 pinion.

Sweet thanks for taking the time to at least try to dicepher it yourself. We see this question almost daily where people just demand for someone to tell them what their gear ratio is. You will almost always see a G or F code followed by a three digit number.

thanks, and damn im surprised it has so much get up and go having 3.58 and 31's i can do an burnout on dry pavement. but i am looking do do an gear change to bring my speedo close to stock. my speedo is 20.1% off what stock toyota gear ratio would bring me close like within 5% + or - im looking to do an junk yard axle swap to bring my speedometer back close to my actual speed

It's not too hard to find complete third members in junk yards. What ratio were you thinking.. 4.10's or 4.30's would probably get you close to stock again.

i actually spent about an hour trying to find it. I only found it on one chart out of several, and 3.58 just did not sound right at all. the chart was confusing, so i posted. sorry if you get this question a lot.

now someone tell me if my math is way off here, I am just brain storming. with an 3.583 ratio that's 3.583 rotations of the drive shaft for every one rotation of the tire 20.1% of 3.583 is .72 if i add .72 to 3.583 that would be 4.30 so would that make 4.30 be the equivalent to stock? or is there other things to take into consideration

I have no issues answering a question when the person at least put forth some effort to find the answer themselves.

It's the people that don't even try and then ask a question that get's asked over and over and over that irritates me. In case you need to ever find this out again,this is the chart that I use.

http://www.toysport.com/Technical%20...ifications.htm

OR

http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/

Both are easily found with a google search.

That's some interesting Math you came up with in theory that should work. My stock ratio was 4.30 with 235's. Now with 5.29's and 37's I am less than 5% off. With 4.88's and 33's I was close to 10% off. Second gen 5 speed runners had 4.30's or 4.56's with 31's and 4.10's and 4.30's with 235's.

hey, man, not to be a thorn in your side, butttt, IIRC, the 2nd gen runners either came with 4.10s (29" tire package) or 4.56s (31 inch tire Optional Package)...
i was under the impression that some of the first gen runners and the 2wd 22re powered 2nd gens came with the 4.30 gears... i could be wrong tho, and if i am, im sorry...

to the OP, if only every NOOB that signs up for this forum would do what you did we wouldnt have the need for scuba...
i commend you for searching yourself first, like UK said... its great when a member takes innitiative...

for future reference, id bookmark this page because it has some GREAT info about toyota axles in general...

My 2nd Gen had 4.30's and 29's. It depends what other options they had. Maybe the 2wd was 4.10's and 4wd were 4.30's. Hard telling.. each one had at least two options not just one.
