Tires and Exhaust?
Hi all, after doing some research and many searches....I decided to just ask my buddies (you guys). I'm intersted in a new exhaust system (mine sounds like its about to fall off), but I don't wantto pay out of the you know where. Also I want some new shoes (tires) I'm tired of looking like a big sissy....I want something that will set me off good. However I drive 120 miles a day to travel to school and back....so I don't want to sacrifice a whole lot in gas mileage. What do ya'll think would be my best options?!? What not to do?? What to do?? Also while i'm asking for advice, what about a snorkel...are there any kits i can get? Thanks Guys! Merry Christmas!!!!!:bigclap:

Do what i did... downeys exhaust system, i have the headers and cat back but you coud chose just the cat back, either way it works well... and go for some 32X11.50's thoes will look nice and wont sacrifice street mileage. by the way the exhaust sounds freaking awsome on my 3.0 sounds like a v8 not like an import v6 rice rocket =)

Go with the Downey exhaust kit (header, pipes, muffler, cat, hardware, shinny exhaust tip-I didn't use it). That's what I did, it was easy bolt on 2.5" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler and hiflow cat. Kicks ass, I don't have the Turbo(wish I did!!), but with the 35" rubber and 4.88's it definately helps. Plus it sounds A LOT better than the stock pipes and glasspak.

What ever exhaust you get, make sure you get a flex joint built into it. That rigid exhaust pipe from the factory was a major cause of turbos cracking(mine did).
Because you've got the turbo, you can go bigger than the normal 2 1/4" that 22RE's get. The turbo provides back pressure, so if you wanted you could go with 4" all the way back(mabye not the best option, but hey).
When it's time for my new exhaust to go on, I'm going simple: 2.5" from the turbo back, through a glasspack.

I did this off of E_Bay. I haven't installed it yet, so I don't know about the sound. I'm waiting on a magnafow cat from the same place.

For the tires, if you got stock and wanna keep your gas mileage, I have 235/75R15 Geolandar AT+II's on my 4runner. They look pretty sweet and are still impressing me with snow and ice and mud and rain too. I got mine for about 450 all four mounted by discount tires.

Here's Downey's website:
http://www.downeyoff-road.com/
Your best bet is to call them. They're site has been changed, so there's no prices. I deffinately paid for it. I also got the ceramic coated header which pushes the cost.

So i too am looking for an exhaust upgrade both for peformance and sound...and from what i hear the best to go with is Downey...can any body tell me if the Magna Flow Extreme Off-Road Muffler - Diamond Plate Casing 2.50" O/C would work on the downey set-up as well? or would the downey be as good for protection from rocks?
