timing set at 15 btdc, bad?

i have my timing set at about 15 btdc, i cant move the distributor any more its at the end of the slot. i timed it right by the book. will this cause me any problems or hurt anything? seems to be running good so far, just dont wanna keep it that way if it will cause problems down the road.

an ENTIRE timing set including the cover is only $130 if i remember correctly from engnbldr , but thats without the oil and water pump, and dont buy the kit off ebay for 70 bucks, it wont work right...trust me, the clearances can be wrong fubared oil pumps, and alot more damage to the motor....not really worth saving a few dollars to have to do this 5 times..and then some

edit: as long as you dont hear pinging...(pre-detonation) you should be ok for now, what you can do is pop off your valve cover and check your driverside timing guide, its a lil plastic guy that normally breaks off due to timing chain wear/slack search for timing chain on here, should be tons of pics of what they should look like and what they shouldnt, hope this helps

if its the 3vze 15 is not bad. factory is 10, but you get more power out of it by putting it at 15. and aslong as there is no knocking under load, youre fine. i still run 89 in mine.

no idea if its a 22re. i havent worked on this motor much, its still new to me.

I think that I read somewhere that having your timing too far advanced can cause pinging and eventually valve damage, I'm not 100% on that. I am curious though, is the 15* btdc at base idle using the jumper wire? I know that when I set mine at 5* btdc at base idle after I take the jumper wire out it appears to jump up to 12-13* btdc.

yup that would be a pointer there, didint even think if he had a 22-RE if ya dont jumper the wire the ECU is advancing the timing making it 15* same thing if you didint plug the vac line to the dist on a carbed motor...
