So cleaning the throttle body and intake plenum worked out pretty well. Pulled a lot of carbon out and it is running great.

Thanks, It was running a little rough around 3000 rpms, losing power a little bit. So, I figured I'd give it a good cleaning and see if that works.

 

Stupid egr's there is no reason for carbon for carbon to be there.

 

Here is how I solved my carbon problem and no error codes. Have done it on several trucks. I just grind the edge down with a soda can or something similar. Can be removed for inspections.

I take a thin piece of metal and bolt it to the EGR and grind it to fit to shape. After all of the carbon that builds up in these and how bad it plugs up all of the tubing. I just dont see how this can be good for the motor. I have spent alot of time trying to get carbon out of the Plenum and still have a ways to go. I can always remove it for inspections, if we ever have to start having them.

 

I just cut off the flanges, weld up the hole and take the EGR pipe off altogether.

Took it for a spin today to make sure that it was running good. The only problem is I think my throttle cable has a little too much free play. Other than that I am really glad I cleaned this out.

 

Great job. It has to be running a little easier. What has you thinking that the cable has to much play?

 

It drops to near nothing for a second after a good pull through the rpm range.
